Continuing along similar lines to last week...

Thanks everyone for your thoughtful comments regarding last week's topic. There's a few things I'd like you to do this week; namely:

  1. Read your fellow classmates comments from last week and post a comment about their comments. :)
  2. Read the articles at the following websites:

... and answer the following question...

If you were the Australian Prime Minister what would you do about this problem? Please take the time to make a well considered response. Post your response to your own blog and link it via the comments section of this posting. If you are not sure what to do please see me during our computer session.

Welcome Aboard

It seemed only fitting that with a new IELTs class we should start with a brand new IELTs blog.

I trust that over the next few weeks we will generate a lot of interesting discussion on this blog as well as on your own personal blogs you created last Wednesday.

I'd like to open this week's discussion with a topic that has been in the news recently. You may have seen some references to it on the news in the past week or so. There have been two recent incidents of mothers dumping their babies here in Australia. One newborn was found safe and healthy and has now been placed in a caring foster home. The other baby was not so fortunate. It was found in a handbag at a recycle station. It had been dead for approximately seven days by the time it was discovered. These two events have disturbed many people and as a result there has been a lot of discussion in the media about it.

I'd like you to go a particular news article I found on News.com.au and give me some feedback on your reaction to the article itself and the topic in general.
